Unhappy Stamp in PDF

I got a PDF file from client that they use the stamp tool to replace some text. When I tried to place it in indesign, it won't give me the right text, just the old one. When I print it directly to the ApogeeX, it give me a PS error. Any idea to fix the problem?

Man, I tell you, they come up with new goofy ways ever day to do things that are just too stinkin' easy to do the right way.

Here are some things to try:

1. save the PDF as an .eps file and see if it retains the "stamp" text
2. save as a .ps file and redistill
3. place the PDF in Indesign and re-set the type yourself
4. drink heavily till it looks good on the screen.

cheers and good luck,
David

Yes, I try to open in Illy, give me the old text, I manually fix the text and print it.
But, any chance to prevent such problem, if the client using such tools without inform the prepress dept.

they should be told to make the type corrections in the original source document, then remake the PDF,
or
use Pitstop to edit the type in Acrobat without using the stamp tool

good luck,
David

I think if you print a post script out of Acrobat and make sure you have the print stamps check box checked, you will have the stamp showing up. The first job I got with stamps burned me on press when I didn't catch it.

David's option 4 is still a good fall back though.

At this point I'm just curious... Have you tried to throw it into Photoshop
to rasterize it yet? I guess it's possible that it might work. If that doesn't work
I'd drink even heavier. Maybe the client will pull the job if you can keep the
bender going long enough.
