Acrobat8 & layers

I got a PDF with layers.
2 layers are turned off.(eyeballs/view)
Drop to ORIS rip and the 2 layers print.(I don't want them to print)
I went to layer options and set everything to never print.
Still prints.
Can't delete these 2 layers.
Any Ideas?

How about refrying the PDF.. sometimes frowned upon, but it may get you out of the jam!
That would be my first shot, then maybe drop into INDD and bring it back out.

Yea,I know how I can get the print I want but,you know.....
the less conversions, the safer you are.

This was a PDF from a customer, to make a large print,40x30.
Yea ,I know I can tell them to turn off layers to print in CS2...
but you know how that goes.

Yea.. I hear ya zimmy... better safe than sorry.
I guess I don't have the technically correct answer you are looking for.
Just a way around it.

Try one or both of the work-arounds, proof it & check it.
You'll probably be good.

Cheers! It's Friday!!

Hi Zimmy,

Just out of curiosity - are you running the latest version/build of the Oris RIP?

Or, do you have any software that will allow you to delete the layers you don't want but preserve everything else in the PDF?

Regards,
Greg

1. I believe its Ver4.5.3(not sure what the latest rev is)
2. I don't want to touch it with any other software.
I want to drop the file that came.

I was trying to find out the latest version but I don't it listed anywhere. You might want to give CGS a call directly.
