Bad File Format [70]

After making an eps file out of an Acrobat 4 PDF (originated in Pagemaker 6.52), I get error message Bad File Format [70] when I try and place it into Quark. Week after week this happens with this client's files. Any ideas?

Well, I just figured out that it's Quark I can't place it into. I placed it into another program just fine. So what's up with Quark?

Hrm, odd. What version of Quark and what platform? The only trouble I've had placing PDF files into Quirk is when they're encrypted & nobody bothers to mention it beforehand.

Quark 5.01 Mac platform. The file I'm trying to place is an eps created from the PDF.

Are you using ASCII as the encoding?

In any case - Acrobat 4 is a very old application which *might* be experiencing issues actually understanding the content of the original PDF.

I would suggest you update to Acrobat 5 at the very least.

The client is creating the PDF file so I'm not sure. When I create the eps file I use binary encoding. I have Acrobat 5 but cannot use it until they upgrade our printing rips. They are very slow at upgrades.
