Replacing/Updating Graphics in a PDF

I need to update some graphics in a PDF that I added transfer curves to the originals in photoshop. I have Pitsop Professional. Is there a way to update these rather than updating in the original Quark file and re-making the PDF?

if you have Acrobat professional you can edit the image within photoshop..

open the PDF, select the Object editing tool and right click on the image, should give you an option to edit image at the bottom.

I was messing with the touch up tool today as well and had it do this when an image has been edited -> see pic

ok> option click the image with the touch up tool. opens in photoshop. add a magenta curve(ignore that the color isnt great, just added alot so I could easily see a difference). command S(save), command W(close). go back to acrobat 6 and unselect the picture and it replaces with the "altered" image. My problem is that it pasted it back in on "TOP" of the starburst beside it.

Why not paste back into same layer it came from?(did this already get discussed in PPF, I cant find a thread... sorry for the repeat if so.)

hopes this helps Haas... TIA guys.

When it came back into Acrobat it went to the top layer. That's a bug with Acrobat.

You could always use the touchup tool in Acrobat, make your edits, save to a new PDF, open new PDF up, use PitStop to select and copy the new graphic, go into the old PDF, select the old image, go to Edit Menu - Replace.

Voila! Just remember, the pictures must be exactly the same size for this to work.

Wow, Sounds like it would be easier to rewrite the PDF.

source files... can't live with 'em... can't live without 'em.

We always request these just for this one reason. Unless the originator wants to do all the edits themselves and re-submit the pdf file.

Source files? We don't need no stinkin' source files.

You can create all the content you want right in Acrobat with PitStop.

dave is right. i tell clients to send me a PDF and to preflight everything to do with the original document. im constantly getting PDFs without embedded fonts, damn you adobe why even have an option not to embed!!!

it's an extra layer of security and well worth the .25 cent CD-R or extra 10 mins of FTP time. asking for them ahead also keeps the politics and territory fights from occuring when you need them later and they want to know why, then how can they fix it and then how can you do it and not be able to explain it to them
