crop marks...where are they?

hey gang,

i hope thisis an easy one, but it has me confused for sure. we receive tons of pdf files from different clients all over, and within the last week, i have received pdfs from 2 different clients with the same issue.

the issue is that when you open the pdf in acrobat 6, there are no crop marks or bleed viewing. when i rip the page in rampage, and view the page, there are clearly crop marks showing, along with bleed. it is as if the bleed and crops are invisible in acrobat.

any ideas on why or how this is happening? ive been working with pdfs and rampage for some time, and have never seen this before.

thanks

cr

when you open it in acrobat, you can go to crop(under document>pages drop down...), and set the crops to zero, and you should be able to see these marks.... from there you can resave or remove or whatever you need to for your workflow.

thank you for the quick response...

i did what you suggested, and the cropping is alrteady set to zero, which is what puzzles me. actually, in my original post, i misspoke. my pdf file SHOWS the bleed, but no crops. my ripped file shows the bleed + crops, that i cant see in acrobat. they are not crops generated by rampage, either. the just kind of...show up.

this isnt a huge problem, because i want them there, but i just cant figure out where they are coming from.

thanks again

for shits and giggles open it up in illustrator and see if they appear could be that they are behind the image and the bleed in acrobat.

things like this make me wonder why Acrobat and InDesign doesnt have Illustrators Outline View

aha...i did as suggested, and there they are. they are not under the art, they are outside the image area, just as they appear in my ripped file. the marks are outside the bounding box when opened in illustrator however. everything inside the bounding box shows up when i open the pdf in acrobat, everything outside (all marks) does not.

hmm

thanks again,

cr

Is there a trim box applied to the PDF that is cutting off the crop marks?

Regards,
Greg
