Overprint Spot Color

Hey all,

I have a composite PDF that is 3 color. Black and 2 PMS. The customer has requested that one of the PMS colors overprint the other. It's all text over a patterned vector art background. I'm using Acrobat 7 but having a hard time figuring out if this is possible.
My best educated guess is that this was created from InDesign.

Thanks in adavance.

Do you have PitStopPro? If you do, you can change the overprint characteristics in there.

I can't think of a fast way to change that in Acrobat... If there are no font issues , try kracking it open in Illy. You can change characteristics there too.

Yes, I do have PitstopPro. However there is so much to this document, individual selecting and telling it to OP would take a long time. I can't seem to find a global change for just overprint. Maybe I'm blind.
Opening it in Illustrator causes some issues, primarly fonts.
Not a huge issue if I can't figure it out, I'll just go back to the customer.

Making the selections is the most difficult part of PitStop. Are you trying to select all of ONE spot color and make it overprint?

Without seeing the document, it's hard to know...

You can select by characteristic in PitStop (Select Similar Objects). I have used that successfully many times to select textlines on a page (or small book).

Just a thought...

Jalan,

It can do it globally. Try the action list. Just alter the default "overprint black text" action to the spot color you want and change "select text" to "select objects" or "select color". I guess it depends on the design though.

Unfortunately no. Just want the type to overprint. They want the vector art which are just boxes, to trap. Some of the type is outline too.

Cool, didn't know that. But still doesn't solve the issue.

Can you tell I'm a newbie at Pitstop? Bare with me.
