Using Pitstop to modify Pattern

I have received a file to print in three spots which includes a chart with patterns defined in Microsoft Office. I can select the individual element and with Inspector it is identified as a 'Colored Tiling Pattern', with a further note that it is 'Based on colors defined inside the Pattern description'. My problem is that I am unable to change the object to any other fill. Is anyone aware of how this could be achieved?

Could you maybe try to modify the graph in illustrator then place back into the PDF?

Unfortunately the graphic will not open in Illustrator, I receive an error using either touch-up or opening the page directly. I had resigned myself to asking the client for the EXCEL chart and recreating it in an editable format. The problem with this however is that it does not solve the problem in the long run.

Following up

Pitstop 6 can recognize that a pattern is used but cannot modify it in any way.
