POD is print on demand.

My reference to layout is setting the job to run most efficiently by laying out the job so it runs 2up, 4up, 8up, 10up...

We have a preps department that used to shoot film to make plates for the press. Now they do that electronically.

Our "prepress" make/design/assemble the piece but have never done the prep work. Now they are expected to do the perp but know nothing about setting up a job for the most effecient use of paper and clicks (the toner charge per single piece and side of 8.5x11 paper).

A quike search would have told you what POD is...
