I am in a shop that did that two years ago we went conv. 133 to digital 200lpi
however we went back to 175 max because our press men could keep it consitant ie. water ink balance ,slur, impresion they never looked at the dot just the den. "which was always off" now running ECRM Mako4 CTP and Fuji Brillia plates and Couldn't be happier 3-97% dot very const. 2-98% @150lpi
when we were running 200 lpi (because the prod. mang. thought it was better) whe had elipitcal dots @ nominal +7.5 angle looks good when ran right however in my opinion most of our cust never saw a difference mabey if they looked under a lupe they would but not as a printed peice
I'd stay between 150 and 175 lpi with round dot and nominal angle to help the pressmen (unless you have qualified press operators who look at what they print)
just my two cents I may be wong
