I use a DVD/VCR Combo recorder. Works great and doesn't tie up my computer. Samsung makes one for about $200 but I think mine is a Hitachi. Transferred all my home movies to DVD in one day (about 15 tapes). Also great for recording movies off the tube direct to DVD.
