I'm guessing your "preview" is a pre-RIP'd one. Hence your 2% slipping through. The only way around this is to have some way of PDFing your PIP'd [1-bit TIFF], file. We are able to do this with the res'd Black Magic proofing file, which DOES have RIP integrity. However, they are too big to be useful. The Fuji/Black Magic tech suggested saving as a PostScrpt file from BMag, then Distilling that for smallest file size, [web view]. Haven't properly run this yet, but intend to.
Trouble is, this is system-specific, and I'm not familiar with yours.
We do do some soft/PDF proofing, but it's an imposed PDF, pre-RIP;...and there's always that risk of problems like the one in this thread popping up unannounced...
