Joe: Thanks for the link. Ill be printing this out too
(I prefer to have a binder of stuff and update it as I go)

Beer: I hope so. What yourself and 99.9% of the members here mention makes sense to me (even if im dim on issues such as transparency) and I appreciate the 'real world' input from other operators.
I need to compile all my pdf info into one spot. atm its all bookmarks and random copy/pasted bits of info

"EPS and Postscript have had their day. Don't go learning to much about flattening as it is fast becoming a thing of the past. In the next 12 months your RIP supplier will be knocking on your door with a total PDF RIP solution that will mean nothing needs to flattened ever again."

Who says my company will upgrade and adapt?
We seem very behind the times in our Prepress room..in regards to trying new methods, and keeping current with more reliable and secure ways to output files...

We dont even download and run the updates to our applications since I was told ' it will only mess things up and change settings '
*how... 'I dont even have a word to go here'*

None of our operators inc myself have ever had training in some of the applications we use daily *(Indesign for ex)*.............. sadly.
And the only thing about output I have been told is how to make Postscripts from Indy and Quark. (which I knew how to do anyhow) and how to place DCS files into Quark and output as a postscript.

Were getting more and more pdfs in but we just keep opening them in Illy and re-saving as a ESP (again.. how I was taught, and god forbid I vary in method)

Speaking of Quark, we just purchased Quark 7... it is still in the box, 2 weeks later.
Waiting for our new Mac to be setup and have CS3 Suite installed, alongside everything else by our """ Computer Tech """ who doesnt know a thing about Macs (you read that right) So one of our operators sets up the Macs here since she owns one... (shes been on VAC... lucky!!!)
