Alas, it's a beautiful thing, the psd in the ai in the indd, if only it were that simple. - i don't know much about quark 7 but 6.5 doesn't do any of that, and can't output dcs as a composite. It's sooo convenient to design layouts with all of these advanced features, but the issue is(and has always been) the transfer of what designers dream up onto a plate and paper. The way i see it, and i have personally beat this issue up myself, is tifs and eps' both have advantages and disadvantages though i believe the eps file to be more of a beneficial format for (printer) final files. Why would you want the eps; the ability to incorporate vector data, spot plates, and ultimately the security of a flattened file. If you have multiple clipping paths an eps will make you specify one to use. If your layers contain transparency the issues will be resolved once you save as an eps in photoshop and illustrator. One last thing is, the tif format now allows for layers and spot colors have you ever tried to separate a tif with a spot? most of us know this is not possible and would go to a dcs(eps) but do the designers?
