I think what they are telling you is correct.
The few CAD files we get are .dwx and (I forget) but there is another kind of extension.

We just open them up in Illustrator and save out from there.

Are you talking about 3D CAD files (architectural renderings) or 2D files (this is what we get like in die files and such)?
