Photoshop vs. Photoshop Extended

Ok, we are about to upgrade to CS3.

Im doing my research, I see there is now a Photoshop, and a Photoshop Extended.

If we just upgrade to the normal Photoshop, that we printers have been using for years, and some "designer" finds a nifty new filter or doo-dad in his/her copy of Photoshop Extended, will Photoshop be able to open a Photoshop Extended file??

Just wondering is all.

Thanks all.
