we run the full esko workflow in our flexo shop, and have since we opened 10 years ago. also have both hardware and software contracts. couldnt imagine doing what we do without the esko tools.
firstly, its very modular, so you can really taylor it to your needs and not buy software you will never use. support is very good, we only see the software guy when new versions are released or we want to demo something new (which they will happily give us a 2 month licence). and thats mainly because not much goes wrong!. hardware guys are in more often, but thats mostly because of the ageing CDI
i'll list a few things that we couldnt live without
Backstage. i rate it 10/10, biggest time saver ever. fully control via by the pilot app, or jdf hot folders. easily links in with mis systems.
Colortone. the only real app available that gives you a decent on screen preview of multi colour images. really valuable if working on 7 color process images or pantone on pantone simulations.
Smarkmarks. all of our step and repeat info marks ect , proofing slips, everything is automated with smartmarks.
Kelidoscope. profile and manage any colour set (eg why pay for opaltone when you can make your own)
Packedge. for us, a great set of tool specificially for flexo
theres dozens more thing i could list, but overall i think the esko products are reliable and repeatable
