I bags the final word!

If you know your world history then you will be aware that all 'empires' rise and fall - nothing is forever and whilst change is not always immediate, over decades it is inevitable that power shifts. Decline can be triggered by one event or gradual over time. It started with the dinosaurs and will continue until this planet no longer exists.

It is a basic law of physics that energy cannot be created or destroyed but changes from one form to another. Perpetual motion cannot exist. The same can be said of business - business is energy.

America has had the 'power' for the last fifty odd years, since WWII, a very, very short period of time for an empire. You look and feel invincible but as I have outlined above, change is inevitable. You must prepare for that change NOW - not twenty years down the line when China has stolen your power base.

A good friend of mine was offered a position in India to help set up a document management centre, which he turned down unfortunately. It is an American company who are moving all their operations from NY and whilst cost is seen as a major reason for the move, the over-riding factor for the shift is quality. Indians take huge pride in their work and the quality of the work turned out is top notch. The same work, if carried out in NY, would have been sent back for revision several times before being acceptable.

America has become complacent whilst retaining the arrogance, so it takes as much as it can without putting in the effort anymore. Power without responsibility. You see it all around you everyday, you moan about it here often enough, so don't say it doesn't exist.

Wake up America and smell the coffee! The world is changing - it is a global community, not national. You must change with it. You have 280 million-odd citizens in a world population of six billion (?). The internet is global, technology is global. If you were to cut yourselves off from the world it would take five years before all your great conglomerates were taken over by non-US companies. The power shifts from the US to A.N. Other country. History will repeat itself again.
