Back when your infamous American Constitution was being drafted, the ruling WASPs (White Anglo-Saxon Protestants) took a vote on what language the constitution should be written in. English won by a couple of votes over GERMAN.
So if it wasn't for the British you'd be the ones speaking german my friend! (Mind you, if it had of gone in german's favour, who do you think the US would have backed in WWI & WWII, so by now we'd all be speaking freakin' german!).
So please don't ever lecture me on that 'if it wasn't for us' shit.
