haven't really had any problems with the LH-PJ scratching easily, my pressman has scratched 2 plates since install, and I left a finger print on the side of 1, and we're at around 500 plates imaged since install. You do have to watch touching the plates before imaging them, the oil(?) in your fingers will leave fingerprints when you process....

Our plate room is a big room with the yellow lights, but we have ton's 'o winders so we get a lot of white light invading in. (We give a lot of tours and they like to have windows so every body can look in!) The plates are not left laying around, they stay in their box until they are loaded into the cassettes. More of a "keep em clean" kinda thing, not so much light struck.
We also don't have the scratch issue, here, nor do we have a problem with fingerprinting the plates. No-one touches the plates but the platemakers and authorized personnel, for that one reason. If anyone sees someone in there handling the plates that we don't know, the supervisor is notified and they are run out of the dept with a warning not to return!
