Apogee 3 and InDesign PDF's (limitcheck save errors)

What is it with Apogee 3 and InDesign PDF's?? I am constanly getting limitcheck-save errors on some of the pdf's created. It seems to be coming from placed pdf's on pages that are then pdf'd from indesign, it doesn't seem to matter if the pdf's from InDesign are exported pdf's or distilled postscript files. I don't have access to all of my customers' original files, so I can't completely troubleshoot. I have found that making eps files from the pdf's fixes the limitcheck problem, but some of the fonts will blow. The only "foolproof" way I have found is doing the old watermark trick and creating outlines on the fonts, then making eps files and putting them back into the normalizer. I have all of the customers giving me 1.3 pdf's so it's not a transparency or layering thing.

Is there some memory setting somewhere in the RIP that will fix this??
I'm trying to make it 6-8 months before upgrading. (getting all new platesetters and front end)
